John Watson School
News - Julia Jarman visit
On 27th february John Watson School were delighted to welcome author Julia Jarman who visited the Secondary Site.
Julia said of her visit “My visit to the John Watson School was the high spot of my day. I am used to enthusiasm from young children but here the joy was tangible. If I needed reminding why I write I would go there every day.”
The day was arranged by Gillian Hood - Wheatley Park's Librarian and was part of a transition project. Julia read 3 of her books to us and didn't want to stop because she was enjoying it so much! Gillian arranged that we had copies of 3 of her books to share between KS3 and Y6 which Julia signed.
One Parent commented “My daughter .......... responded very positively .......... she is often hard to communicate with but after hearing of the visit I ordered the book from Amazon, it came on saturday morning and she insists on it for her bedtime story, she kisses the animals on each page ........... she has never responded so well to a book before.”
